Creating Links in HTML Documents
Who is this article for?EQMS Document content managers.
Document module access is needed.
The Document Manager module can store documents of many different types, including HTML pages. HTML pages are web pages and usually include links. In some cases these links are internal links (i.e. they are links to files within your EQMS system) or external links (i.e. they work outside of EQMS).
When uploading an HTML file as a document you will be presented with options to replace of validate the links.
This article outlines:
1. Uploading a File with Internal Links
Internal Hyperlinks are links to Documents that are already under EQMS control. When HTML documents are uploaded the hyperlinks are recognised and the user is given the chance to update the links to instead point to an EQMS document.
Example: An HTML file is uploaded with three URLs which don't actually work. These are http://link1, http://link2 and http://hyperlink3. EQMS identifies the links and essentially swaps the links so that they instead point to an internal resource within EQMS.
To upload a file with internal links:
- Open the Document Manager.
- Select the Documents tab and then click on Manage Documents.
- Click New Document.
- Enter the required document details.
- Click Save, then OK.
- Click the Upload Document button.
- Select the HTML file and click Upload, then OK.
- Check Internal and then browse for your EQMS document.
- Click Save.
2. Uploading a File with External Links
External hyperlinks are links to Documents that are already under EQMS control. When HTML documents are uploaded the hyperlinks are recognised and the user is given the chance to validate the links.
To upload a file with external links:
- Open the Document Manager.
- Select the Documents tab and then click on Manage Documents.
- Click New Document.
- Enter the required document details.
- Click Save, then OK.
- Click the Upload Document button.
- Select the HTML file and click Upload, then OK.
- When prompted, click on the Click to view file (ext) button to validate the link.
- Click OK to continue.
