Impacts
Audience: Risk Administrators
The effect of a Risk or threat happening. Can be measured in any chosen terms (say cost, reputation, measure of health, quality of life, delay, etc.). To determine a Risk Score, each degree of Impact (Severity) has to have a numerical value.
As part of calculating risk alerts, the impact a certain risk may have should it occur needs to be determined. To increase efficiency, reliability and repeatability these can be pre-set and categorised into Impact types.
Creating Impacts and Impact Areas
- To create an Impact Type, select Risk Administration | Impacts. The Impacts list screen will be displayed similar to this:
The list shows the Impacts Types. To reveal the specific Impacts within each type, select the expand icon in the far left of the relevant row in the list.
- Select the Add New icon to the right of the Impacts header bar. Use the scroll bar to the right of the screen to reveal the blank Impact Type Details screen similar to this:
- Complete the mandatory Title
- Select the Save icon to the right of the screen header bar. This will refresh the screen to reveal additional options:
- Now that the Impact Type has been created, you can now create the specific Impacts. To do this, select the New Impact icon in the Impact Type Details screen, revealing a screen similar to below:
- Give the impact a Title and a Weight
Note: The weight signifies the level of impact and is used to calculate your Risk Scores
- Select Save
Amending Existing Impacts and Impact Types
- To Modify an Impact or Impact Set/Type select Risk Administration | Impacts. The Impact list screen will be displayed similar to this:
- Select the relevant row of the list, this will display the details of the Impact or Impact Type in a populated details screen form at the bottom of the list. Change any details wished and then select the Save icon.
Note: Impacts are grouped together by their Impact Type. If an Impact Type is associated with a Risk Type, only the Impacts of the chosen Impact Type can be selected and used to calculate the score for risks of that Risk Type.
