Associating Items with Products and Product Types
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for product management.
Supplier Administrator (SUPADM)permissions are required.
Each Product Type you can associate a variety of documents and records. This ensures that the required data is logged against your products and any supporting documentation or standards are readily available. This article contains information about each of the available items.

1. Associating Metadata Types
These are additional fields that can be associated with a Product Type. If associated, all Products of that type will have the additional fields appear in their details.
To associate Metadata Types with your Product Types:
- Navigate to Supplier Manager.
- Select Supplier Manager.
- Choose Product Types from the menu on the left.
- Open the Product Type you want to manage by selecting its record row.
This will open the Product Type details screen.
- Switch to the "Associated Metadata Types" tab.
This will reveal a list of existing Metadata Types you can associate.
- Click the Add New icon in the header bar.
- Check the box in the far right of the column for the Type(s) you would like to associate with your Equipment Type.
- Click the Link icon to associate the selected Metadata Type(s).
2. Associating Documents
Navigate to the "Documents" tab to display the document list.
Network/Local Document
To attach a Document with a Product:
- Click the New Attachment icon.
The overlaid screen will be displayed.
- Complete the mandatory Title field.
- Browse for a file to be uploaded from any accessible computer/folder.
- Click the Upload icon to the right in the header bar.
Documents can be viewed by selecting the View Document icon to the right of the record row. It will be displayed in a new browser screen.
Documents can be removed by selecting the Delete Document icon located to the far right of the record row.
EQMS Document
To attach a copy of an EQMS Document to a Product:
- Click the Attach EQMS Document icon.
The overlaid EQMS Document screen will be displayed.
- Use the filters to search for the required document.
- Click the Attach icon to associate the document.
EQMS Document Link
To create a live link to an EQMS Document with a Product:
- Click the Link EQMS Document icon.
The overlaid EQMS Documents search screen will be displayed.
- Use the filters to search for the required document.
- Click the Link icon to associate the document.
3. Associating Organisational Areas
Organisational Areas can be associated with a Product to help with filtering and reporting.
To associate an Area with a Product:
- Go to Supplier Manager.
- Select Supplier Manager.
- Choose Products from the menu on the left.
- Select anywhere in the record row for the Product you need.
- Switch to the "Organisational Areas" tab.
- Use the filters to search for the required Area.
- Click the Link Organisational Area icon to the right of the record row.
The page will refresh, and show the updated records.
4. Associating Standards
Standards can be associated with Products to help with filtering and reporting, or to identify which Standards each Supplier has to maintain for a specific Product.
When you select the "Standards" tab from the top bar you, will see the below screen.
The standards listed on the left-hand side of the screen are drawn from the System Management module within the system.
To associate a Standard, click the arrow to the right of its record row. It will then appear in the list on the right-hand side of the screen.
To remove this link, click the arrow to the left of its record row.
5. Associating Module Items
Suppliers can have other entities associated with them for reference purposes.
For example, some Suppliers may have to have a Product Audit performed on them prior to purchasing a specific item from them. This Audit record can be associated with the Product.
The items you will be able to associate with a Product is controlled by the module System Settings and your visibility of the other modules.
Navigate to the "Associated Items" tab to see what entities are currently attached to the Product.
To associate a new item:
- Select the Associate New icon to the right of the relevant header.
Below is an example where we attach an Audit item.
- Use the filters to identify the item you want to attach.
- Click the Associate icon to the right of the record row.
A system message will be displayed.
