Accessing and Managing Broadcasts
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for broadcasting information to system users.
System Administrator(SYSADM)permissions are required.
Broadcasts are simple messages that can appear throughout the system in the Broadcast window (if enabled). These can be used to highlight key information, notify of upcoming important dates and can also link to associated documents. You can specify which groups of users you wish the broadcast(s) to appear to. This article shows you how to do this.
1. Accessing Broadcasts
To access Broadcasts:
- Navigate to System Manager.
- Go to Tools.
- Select Broadcasts.
2. Creating Broadcasts
To create a new Broadcast:
- Select New Broadcast located above the Description column heading.
You will see the Broadcast details screen.
- Enter a Description.
- Define the Message text that will be displayed to Users.
- Set a Start Date and End Date.

Add Group to choose which Users will see the message.
You must choose at least one. - Attach an optional Associated Document for viewing by clicking Choose file.
- Click Save to create the broadcast.
Your message will now appear in the broadcast window to the selected audience.
Unable to modify a greyed out field?
ID, Created By, and Date Modified fields are unchangeable and default to a specific value.
'ID' defaults to a number in a sequence and is set by the module. 'Created By' defaults to the User who added the message. 'Date Modified' defaults to when the creation took place.
3. Amending Broadcasts
To amend an existing Broadcast:
- Open the Broadcasts view.
- Click on the Description of the Broadcast you want to edit.
You will be presented with the Broadcast details screen again.
- Modify the Broadcast record as required.
- Click the Save icon to confirm.
