Creating and Managing Standards and Standard Types
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for managing standards.
Audit Administrator (AUDADM) permissions are required.
Standards can be associated Audit Types, Audits, Checklists, Questions and Findings. The association of Standards with Questions enables Checklists to be built relating to specific Standard(s). The association with an Audit with one or more Standards enables Audit analyses by Standard.
Standards can have an optional attribute of Standard Type that can be used for filtering purposes.

1. Accessing Standards
To access Standards:
- Go to Audit Manager.
- Select Audits.
- Choose Standards
Standards are presented in a list that can be setup as a hierarchical tree structure.
To expand/collapse parts of the hierarchy, use the Reveal/Hide icons to the left of each item.
To highlight or filter a selection of record, enter a string into the Title field and click Find.
Alternatively, click the Search icon to expand the tree and highlight all those that match, omitting any branches in the tree where there are no matches.
2. Creating Standards
To add a new Standard:
- Click the Add New Record above the list of Standards.
This will create a Standard at the top level of the hierarchy.
To create a Standard at a lower level, click the Add Standard icon while highlighting a Standard of the same level.
- Give your Standard a Code.
- Enter a Title.
- Add an optional Description.
- Select a Parent Standard if needed.
- Change the Owned By selection if required.
- Select a Standard Type from the dropdown.
- Tick Active to make the Standard available for selection.
- Date Modified is automatically set and is read-only.
- Click Save.
To associate one or more Documents, Questions, or Checklists with the Standard, click the relevant icon in the top row of the Associated Items section.
Tick the boxes next to the items you want to associate and click Associate Selected.... The new associations will appear in the associated items table at the foot of the Standard Details screen.
3. Amending Standards
To edit a Standard:
- Select the relevant record row of the Standards hierarchy.
The Standard Details screen and associated items will be displayed.
- Amend the details as required.
- Add or remove the Associated Items.
- Click Save.
4. Accessing Standard Types
To access Standard Types:
- Go to Audit Manager.
- Select Housekeeping.
- Choose Standard Types.
5. Creating Standard Types
To create a Standard Type:
- Click the Add New Record icon above the Title column heading.
The Standard Type Details screen will be cleared. - Enter a Title.
- Add an optional Description.
- Tick Active to make the Type available for selection.
- Click Save.
6. Amending Standard Types
To edit a Standard Type:
- Select in the row of the relevant record in the left hand list.
The Standard Type Details screen will be populated with your selection. - Amend the details as required.
- Click the Save icon.
