Creating and Managing Equipment Types
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for Equipment Type management.
Equipment Administrator(EQADM) permissions are required.
All assets/pieces of equipment on the system will be of a specific Equipment Model and each model must be of an Equipment Type. The Equipment Type dictates the associated Metadata Types, Documents, and Standards. This article will show you how to administer them.
1. Accessing Equipment Types
To access Equipment Types:
- Navigate to Equipment Manager.
- Select Equipment Types.
This should reveal a list of existing Equipment Types.
If the search fields are not displayed, click the Expand icon below the header bar to expand the filters.
Additionally, each column header can be selected to arrange the results in ascending or descending order.
2. Creating Equipment Types
To create a new Equipment Type:
- Click the Add New icon in the top right of the header bar
This will reveal a blank Equipment Type details screen.
- Fill in the mandatory details: Title, Code.
- Provide an optional Description.
- Tick the Active checkbox.
This decides whether the Equipment Type will be available for selection in the rest of the module. - Select the Owner or Owner Group (if different from yourself).
- Click Save to confirm.
The screen should refresh to reveal additional tabs.
You can associate additional items with each Equipment Type to build out your documentation.
3. Amending Equipment Types
To edit an existing Equipment Type:
- Select the required Equipment Type from the list.
This will reveal the Equipment Type details screen.
- Amend details as required.
- Click Save to confirm your changes.
