Accessing and Managing Supported File Types
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for restricting allowed file types for attachments.
System Administrator (SYSADM) permissions are required.
To give you control over what files can be uploaded to your system, System Manager has an editable list of Uploadable File Types that you can expand or restrict as needed. This article walks you through how to do that.
1. Accessing File Types
To access the File Type list:
- Navigate to System Manager.
- Select Security.
- Click Uploadable File Types.
You will see the list of currently supported File Types.
2. Adding File Types
To add a new supported File Type:
- Select New Uploadable File Type located above the Uploadable File Type column heading.
You will see the Uploadable File Type details screen.
- Determine the File Type.
- Add a Description to make identifying it easier for User.
- Set a Folder Image.
This will determine what a folder containing this file type will be displayed as. This will only be displayed if the Document Manager module parameter Use Document Graphics in Tree has been checked. - Set a File Image.
This will determine what a file of this type will be displayed as. This will only be displayed if the Document Manager module parameter Use Document Graphics in Tree has been checked. - Click Save.
If the required image is not available, you can upload new images by clicking the Upload New Image button. You can now browse anywhere on your network, using the standard browse facility, for your new GIF image.
You can delete an existing image by selecting the Delete Image link. This will cause any files of this type to revert back to a standard page icon.
Any new images that are uploaded should be a maximum of 16 pixels high by 16 pixels wide to conform to the images already supplied.
If larger images are uploaded this will impact on the Navigator Tree display.
3. Amending File Types
To amend an existing File Type:
- Select its Description from the list.
This will take you back to the details screen. - Make required changes.
- Click Save.
To remove a File Type, click the Cross icon next to its row from the Uploadable File Types list.
